The Night – Valued.
Protected. Inspired.
I’m Marnie Ogg, and my work is devoted to helping people discover the power of Australia’s night skies - not simply as beautiful backdrops, but as living natural, cultural and scientific treasures.
Through Dark Sky Traveller and Dark Sky Tourism Australia, and alongside astronomer Professor Fred Watson AM, I create and champion experiences that reconnect people with the stars.
From quiet coastal skies near Sydney to the great observatories of Chile, our work bridges tourism, astronomy outreach, policy leadership and practical solutions to light pollution.
“Once you’ve stood beneath a truly dark night sky, you’ll want to protect it too.”
Dark Skies, Stargazing & Tourism in Australia

Because dark sky travel is about more than wonder – it is about awakening responsibility.
It is about recognising that natural darkness strengthens communities, enriches tourism, protects wildlife and safeguards our scientific future.
This is where my work, partnerships and purpose converge — shaping a future in which the night is not taken for granted, but valued, protected and proudly shared.
